Calling all ShopWindow Affiliates!
How do you feel about ShopWindow Technologies?
Since the launch of ShopWindow in March last year, we’ve been working on new ideas and creating innovative tools for you all to use! We plan to continue the trend in producing award winning technology and we would like your help in doing so.
Get your point across!
Who better to point out the strengths and weaknesses of our technology than you - our existing users?
We are looking to put together a long term ShopWindow specific testing group; this will involve testing any new updates, versions and even new tools! We are particularly interested in affiliates who are already familiar with using our ProductServe API but even if this isn’t the case we still very much need input in other areas.
It’s not all hard work…
Being part of the ShopWindow testing team is a great way to share ideas with other members and put forward your ideas directly to us here at ShopWindow. We would like to periodically hold events as a thank you for committed members and also give you pre release access to some of our future products/services. You’ll also have chance to discuss your ideas informally with the whole team and other like minded individuals.
Sound good?
If so, please drop me an email at adrian.botelho@shopwindow.com with your affiliate details (Aff ID, Name, Website URLs etc..) and what you are interested in testing. I will be in touch shortly with some further information.
Kind Regards,
Adrian :D
I've sent an email to you regarding this.

I've been around since before the original offering and had great fun helping get it sorted.
The new version is a huge improvement on those early days and no doubt it can still be improved further but for my requirements it works great.
I remember having a bash, finding it too hard to set a starting category so I could just get the product types related to my site and gave up.

A lot more information about what you are planning might encourage some people to become more involved.
How about naming the broad areas for possible discussion?
Paul
PS Why not start a 'discussion wishlist'?
My first wish - the ability for affiliates to grade feeds on a variety of factors and for this information to be made public to all affiliates such that you can let us create multiple merchant mixes for use on different websites.
My second wish - a minimum set of feed standards that stops a Merchant going live until either they or Digiwin 'fix' any and all issues identified by affiliates! Let affiliates approve merchants!!!!
Having seen the post above I dashed off to check that there was not a problem with my version 1 site at pricecompareuk.com which I am glad to report is still working OK.
My version 2 site at canget.co.uk is working - but sadly I have not had enougth time to get further that the standard 'out of the box' offering....
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have spent time and effort answering questions on this forum for their help while I was setting up my first site.
Ive replied to the email. However, the main problem I have is that I dont know PHP. I develop in C#/ASP.NET and there is just no support or help when I have asked for it - from both AW and the community.
I literally managed to get the categories back and gave up as it is overly complicated even to just do this.
In comparison API's like the Amazon are extremely easy to use and implement. Its a pity that AW don't offer some level of support for other languages or at least some documentation rather than everything in PHP.

You should have keep visiting and should have checked out V2 of the client. It's as simple as editing 1 line of text to get it to show only a specific starting category now. A few people waited for that to become a standard option and some have made really good use of the function.
Not too impressed wanted to set up search facility from main website and didn't work asked for help didn't get any
A few of us have explained a few different methods as to how that can be achieved, you should have just had a good search, you'd find that your questions had been answered more than once, just not to your specific thread that you made. That must have slipped through, there's a few of us who go out of our way to try and help, or at least help make it easier to be achieved if we don't know ourselves.

I have to admit, I ignore any threads talking about asp.net normally, I've never gone down that path of windows servers before so would be of no use in that area at all. I suspect that is the same with quite a large percentage of the others using Shop Windows too. Most use Shop Windows seem to use PHP and Linux servers and judging by the poll, most seem to use the client software and not the API, as the API is more difficult and I agree I find it not so nice to play with as the Amazon toolsets.

Gave up with the API got dead fed up with the lack of any decent documentation .. been an ITIL Service Manager for 12 years and would not let my IT suppliers get away developing a product with such poor supporting documentation. Shame, could have been good
I do hope you've actually had a better response with this than on certain other things in the past Adrian, although looking at some of the responses on here so far and considering how many registered members there are on the forum who will have been sent this, it's not looking promising.
I do have to agree with the-ferret regarding the documentation though, there really is very little and what there is, really isn't all that helpful.

Am up for testing.
You seem to be doing a remarkably good job so far so what you want to test I am a bit bewildered about. Maybe I could request a few alterations though. Yeah I can do that.
Keep them upgrades coming...
