Merchant Feed Quality Discussion - play.com

Over 70,000 products and it seems that there is a very low proportion of products displaying an image (CDs is all I have found so far). No relevant product descriptions in sight anywhere that I can see.

I have to say that the idea of using an image URL as the product description is novel - is this some sort of secret SEO weapon that I have not heard of?

At least we have our first example of complete garbage.

Hi Paul,

I have been in discussions with Play.com this week about the quality of their datafeed.

They are working on updating this and I hope will be providing this to us next week.

Also, as our category tree has changed and our DTD requirements, we are going to be going out to all merchants and independantly reviewing their feeds and requesting a better dataset.

Once the play.com feed is updated, I will post here to let you know.

I hope that Play get it right and really go for it as their presence could make/break this shop for me.

Having Play products and prices all over the shop would improve it 100% as far as I'm concerned
