how do I switch over to V2 without killing all the tweaks I made to V1 - which I have not documented or listed anywhere.

My experience is that it is better not to even try this approach but to basically start again with the same ideas as implementing the same ideas will mainly lead to not the same code and in some cases a completely different approach!
The goalposts have been moved to another ground!
