View Full Version : u gotta larf....
I was looking for some prods to promote Bob Dyas, and noticed they have products in the "Mice" category
I didn't know they were a pet shop, nor did I realise there wasa "Pet" parent category, so I had a look and it's all computer Mouses :D
Is this a common plural? I've always used Mouses for peripherals and Mice for rodents.
i thought mouses was something you put on your hair?
i thought mouses was something you put on your hair?
isn't that mousses?
or was that the point? lol Might have ruined your gag there amcho
I say mice for both computer and rodent.
However, I try to avoid letting this dodgy plural come up in conversation because using "mice" or "mouses" just doesn't sound right either way and I end up looking dumm :D
Interestingly:
The Compact Oxford English Dictionary (third edition) and the fourth edition of The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language endorse both computer mice and computer mouses as correct plural forms for computer mouse. The form Mouse, however, appears most commonly, while some authors of technical documents may prefer either mouse devices or the more generic pointing devices. The plural mouses treats mouse as a "headless noun."
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_mouse#Etymology_and_plural).
hmm, so it's personal preference. Interesting.......
Cheers Steve, didn't think about wiki
