The title says it all ...

Anybody else seen this movie?
What were your thoughts?

I had been waiting a while to see this as I loved the first three. I think I must have lost two hours of my life in the "space between space"? Come again? Where did those two hours go Indie?

Worst film EVER...... seriously what were they thinking.....

Childhood memories of Indie being Indie are ruined.......

Mate, i couldn't agree more!

the only decent bit of the film was the Ark's cameo near the beginning. Those that know me well enough will know the film was ruined for me the instant the Stars and Stripes filled the screen as they entered area 51.

the beginning was very true to the previous Indi films, even the light filters seemed to take us back to the old and gold. but it soon lost it's way.

I thought it was amazing how the fridge escaped a nuclear explosion with just a few scratches!! Ok, it was lead lined, but still, it would have been destroyed.

there wasn't enough indi style action for me. He barely used his whip (once I think) and there wasn't a boulder trap anywhere. Infact, there weren't any traps at all that I can remember.

And the "Colbys" style ending with the spaceship? jesus mary and joseph, what the hell were they thinking?

No wonder Sean Connery refused to reprise his role (which was taken over by 'Ox' to keep the story flowing). He obviously read the script and thought "Nah, I'd rather be thought of as a decent actor in decent films. Im off to the Golf Course!"

Rubbish, absolute tripe. But, the kids loved it. The middle lad is roughly the same age as I was the first time I saw lost Ark. The eldest, about the same as Temple of doom.

Maybe then, it is not the francise that has lost it's lustre, maybe it's the Indi fans who have grown abit too old to be excited by it anymore. Perhaps we should sit down and rewatch Ark, Doom and Crusade and see if it's us or them.

Although, I suspect it's them!

My sentiments exactly!
I don't think that the film itself was the problem, it was possibly our expectations.
Those that have not seen Indie before will take it as it comes but we expect loads of traps, loads of whip action (careful now), and at least one nasty pit of poisonous creatures!

One thing that did seem to be the same throughout the tetralogy was that there was a large military force ... vs Indie and his sidekicks. This time the Russians. I did not find the leading women very convincing as a baddie.

It was however, an interesting interpretation of the legend behind the skulls but I seriously cringed when all of those beings morphed into one and came alive to devour the lady. Oh dear.

IMDB has a page of indie quotes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/quotes) from the crystal Skull. Here's a particularly gut wrenching scene. I nearly brought up my Peanut M&Ms

Marion Ravenwood (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000261/): I'm sure I wasn't the only one to go on with my life. There must have been plenty of women for you over the years.
Indiana Jones (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000148/): There were a few. But they all had the same problem.
Marion Ravenwood (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000261/): Yeah, what's that?
Indiana Jones (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000148/): They weren't you Honey.

lame lame lame lame lame

Well i'm perfectly happy to completely disagree with the lot of you on this one, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and got from it exactly what I was hoping and expecting to get from it and I was one of those that went to the cinema to see the three previous movies first time round and went and saw tham all more than once and also watched the trilogy box set which I own in the last 3 months, as well as watching the movies as shown on BBC over the last few weeks, so yeah, you could say i'm a bit of an Indy fan.

Seems to me that people have simply become far too fussy, over expectant and critical of everything offered these days and not just with movies. But, regarding movies it takes away the ability to simply switch off and enjoy a movie for what it is, for most...

I'm so glad I trust my own opinion of movies over anyone elses opinion of them, if I listened to most people regarding movies these days, i'd never bother going to the cinema and would end up smashing my dvd players.
