View Full Version : Gaming ...
Welcome all, gamers young (as long as they are 18 or over - BBFC) and old alike,
Well, we find ourselves on the edge of desire once more, our fingers itch to grasp the glory ...
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more - King Henry V Act III, Shakespeare.
Of course I speak of the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
Who is going to pitch a tent with me outside Game, awaiting the midnight opening?
Who is taking the day off to blatantly game all day long?
Who does not have a clue what I am speaking of?
I bought a PS3 last weekend, I also managed (I think and hope and pray) to find a pre-order of the hotly anticipated title. My Playstation lies dormant, awaiting the release of GTA-IV!!!
I for one, cannot contain my excitement and will be sat by the letter box like a ravenous dog waiting for the postman..
Plus I have ordered the super swank edition
I will also not be in work!
Before anyone calls me a geek, let me point out that the GTA games are one of the most significant titles that have come to cause controversy, inspiration and have led the way for a host of fantastic new games..
And George, Xbox 360 is better:p
All this talk of "Pitching a tent" and "Swank editions"....................
You'll go blind!
That said, wish it was coming out on PS2. I'd have it if it was, but I'm not buying a new console. It's hard enough to get the kids away from their games, or (new 50" plasma) TV without giving them another hurdle infront of their homework.
GTA Liberty city was incredible, but slightly too involved. OK it added an extra element having to eat, drink, keep fit and keep a girlfriend happy, but all I wanted to do was blast some fools with my 9.
*edit* it was GTA San Andreas I meant! Been a while since I popped some hommies
time to break this thread wide open again methinks.
For my birthday, amongst the lashings of gifts i got from affiliate networks, retailers and friends (that would be none) I found a PS3 from my wonderful wife to be Donna.
in it: GTA4
oh yes!
Best game ever,
best thing ever (Donna excepted),
in my opinion of course
I'm on the very last mission having saved it on 2 slots. Once with a dead Girlfriend, once with a dead cousin.
The missions start off pretty identical, but after the first 100 or so kills, they change.
One has a motorcycle chasing a boat and a death defying leap onto a helicopter gunship to chase the boat down. The other, boat chases helicopter, leap to gunship, chase down helicopter over Liberty City skyline.
I can't do it though. I can't fly the helicopters well enough to dodge the incoming missiles and stay in the air.
I'm wondering though, what the game would be like if i didn't kill Vlad, and killed Dwayne instead of playboy, or shot Gerry instead of Francis!
I have lost lots of hours (early hours) to this game and I don't regret a second of it!
If you've got to the end, let me know who you killed (big storyline kills) and who you kept alive. It'd be interesting to know who's deaths trigger what.
Hi Andy,
Wow, a lot of hours!
I have just met Dwayne, but if you killed Playboy then I will kill Dwayne when I get the chance :D and will let you know what happens.
I killed Vlad. I let Dwayne's ex girlfriend live. Maybe if I killed her I could have killed him?
I am going to put a couple of hours in this weekend.
To be honest, I am not a massive fan of this new installment. What I really liked about San Andreas was the Back o Beyond, as they dubbed it, which is missing from here. I am slowly beginning to like it more because at first I was not very happy and barely noticed any changes so I just played Call of Duty 4 online for HOURS!
Metal Gear Solid 4 next?
Just realised what Sarah was saying
And George, Xbox 360 is better:p
whoa there........
I dooooooooooooooon't think so!
xBox360 = Microsoft
ps3 != Microsoft
xBox360 > 0
ps3 > xBox360
Can't think of a better way to put it. These guys have done a good job though: http://www.barefeats.com/xbox_ps3.html
anyhoo, Dwaynes girlfriend has to stay alive. Dwayne doesn't want her dead and you'll cause beef by popping a cap in her ass.
You'll get the chance to do either Dwayne or playboy in a few hours, but you'll probably already have the jist of the problems between them.
I did Vlad too, but i kind of regret it now. I didn't realise I had a choice until much later on and it's starting to bite me in the rear (with this last mission, they're connected in a big way)
the landscape isn't as big as it was in San An, but, it's far more detailed and REAL now. The cityscape you see in the background, isn't just a background, Its the game area. Try sniping across the river (great fun) or jumping it in a sports car (motorbikes will get you killed). We don't have to load the new island in when we cross bridges, which is fantastic (and a good 5 star wanted escape tactic).
the game gets better as you go on. you've got some very big missions coming pretty soon. wait while you're out with the Irish or robbing the Rabbi!
Hey!
I think I have done the game now.
Or at least I got the Rockstar credits so that is main missions done.
Phew.
That was a late Saturday night :D
For killing Dwayne, Playboy gave me 25K, I would have rather had the apartment but now Playboy has disappeared so I cant kill him just for annoying me.
As for other choices ...
I executed Darko and I got my revenge as opposed to the deal.
Might take out some punks online now ...
OK
Reflecting upon that post I would like to apologise to my friends and my family because I now realise just how sad I truly am :D
