View Full Version : Friday's Food For Fort (Thought) Part II
Morning all!
Well, another week gone, another Friday is upon us so I shall follow on from last weeks Fillossofee Friday (http://www.shopwindowforum.com/showthread.php?t=650) ...
A question that has plagued mankind for a while now ... and no, it is not "what happened to Lucky Charms breakfast cereal" ... having read a recent article on the BBC site it seems this professor believes that the chance of finding intelligent life outside of our planet is very slim ...
BBC - ET Contact Odds 'extremely low' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7351428.stm)
What do you believe? Is there intelligent life out there somewhere?
I look forward to your comments ...
There are 1000's of millions of stars in our galaxy and theres 1000's of millions of galaxies
We can't possibly live on the only inhabited planet. There's life still undiscovered on this planet, until we know we've got every species catalogued here, how can we rule out life on other planets? There's probably life (or the remains of) on Mars and/or on Jupiters moons.
Who knows what state each planet was in before they all switched positions. Mars was certainly further from the Sun, so it's possible life had a go there.
Bear in mind that any intelligent life out there might be trying to find us too, which increases the chances of a meeting.
I believe!
Absolutely 100% definately (is that a real sentence? or just three random words).
... but ... are they visiting us?
well the whole subject is submerged under a whole deluge of mis-information, pranks, spooks and such including UFO sightings... this makes it harder to prove.
If you've got time checkout the disclosure project, these are at least very plausable people and its quite an eye opener actually. See youtube (its very long) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vyVe-6YdUk. Most people involved in this field are usually totally off the wall, and probably believe Elvis is about to return lol, but Dr Steven Greer really does sound fantastically rational in his approach.
Anyway my belief is that there are thousands of civilisations up there, and obviously these will be of various technological advancement. Our problem is we find it hard to conceptualise anything beyond our capability, sure we are able to make fantastic films like Matrix, Contact etc (the human race has a fantastic ability to fantasize) but our minds in general just can't seam to make that leap from imagination/fantasy to seeing those things as real, so if anyone says 'Oh i saw a UFO' then they are nutters.
Personally, i haven't seen one, but i would like everyone else love to...
Ian
Ian!!! I have seen the Disclosure Project!!!
If some of those testimonies are true then it is a very scary world in which we live! For is this not the documentary that claims that governments plan to install weapons in space and shoot down on Earth to simulate an alien attack? Or was I just dreaming that up
I do believe that there are intelligent life forms out there that do have their own unique civilizations. Some will be more advanced than us, and I guess others will be less advanced.
Whilst I believe that these more advanced races have visited us, I also believe that government "black projects" may have engineered (or reverse engineered as the case may be) such craft. Now whilst I am sure that the majority of UFO accounts will be false (possibly unintentionally false) some may be such "black projects" and others may in fact be real.
OK I am turning this into a conspiracy theory ...

Let me see if I have got this week's discussion right.
Statistically speaking, there is probably a parallel universe out there where the Bennetts datafeed actually contains descriptions and Empire stores approve 80% of their pending sales?
Sorry, but that is just not possible, full stop!
Paul
I couldn't stop laughing when I heard your comment Paul, very funny, but probably true lol..
George thats the problem isn't it when you start discussing this issue in particular you are always led into the conspiracy realm, and from there you usually end up seeing Elvis lol. Yes, the Disclosure Project does have elements of it which sheds light on a grand plan to dupe 'earth dwellers' into thinking aliens are attacking when in fact its secret parts of our own civilisation perpetrating the action.
Why? well the USA are apparently running out of enemies lol, so they need to make one up :) The reasons for this are that the might of America is made up of its Military/Industrial Complex, they are interdependant and need enemies to make riches etc. There probably is an element of this going on, but that doesn't make real 'aliens' any more improbable.

I believe there is life on other planets, we all get transfered to a new planet as each one explodes at the end of its usable life, lets just hope we dont get transfered via Terminal 5 !!
