Saleen reveal the S5S Raptor concept!

The Raptor is a two seat mid-engine super car and represents the first ground up vehicle to be conceived by the new Saleen management team. It competes in size and style with core offerings from the most notable of Italian exotic car makes, but with a segment leading 650hp and 630 lb-ft of torque provided by a Saleen 5.0L Supercharged (S5S) Engine that will send the Raptor screaming to 60 mph in a g-force generating 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph. With ethanol power, the car is both mean and clean!

According to Saleen executives, the S5S Raptor could enter the market in as little as two years, and should it go forward, it would carry a base price of approximately $185,000 MSRP.

Wow!

Looks absolutely amazing George... Still looks way too 'Concepty' to be a production car but thats a hell of a lot of car and performance for that little money....

Mind you though, who knows what the actual build quality is like and even more importantly how it drives! :confused:

Think the front lights are funky but have some shared designs of the the Audi R8, for example the white strip of LED lights bordering the cluster... This seems to be an upcoming design style and i think we'll see many more manufacturers copying...

No doubt headlight conversion kits will soon be readily available on eBay for chavved up Ford Fiestas...:p

It's got a squinty face like Roary the racing car's friend "Drifter". The back end reminds me of that German built Lambo (forget the name, couple of years since it hit Top Gear) but with a fatter arse and the windscreen sweeping over the roof makes it look bald.

What we've got there is a fat arsed, balding, squinty eyed Alchoholic (it does run on ethanol!!)

Still, all that said, I like it, as a concept that is. Maybe the bigger boys will start looking towards building Ethanol engines soon and we can all start breathing air again.
