Hi all,

I watched a film called Cloverfield (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1060277/) at the weekend. I am not sure if you all recall the hype regarding this film?
Anyway, I think it left a lot of people disappointed, however, I confess ... I thought it was fantastic!

Has anybody else seen this film? Liked it? Detested it?

Let me know what your fav films are :D

Cheers

My father in law turned up on Sunday, flash card in hand, with "CloverField" and "I Am Legend".
I've ripped them to my HDD but haven't found time to watch them yet.

I'm really looking forward to seeing I Am Legend (http://quidcompare.quids-in-uk.co.uk/DVD+Video-235/DVDs-240/I+Am+Legend+2+Discs-24403545.html), not so much Cloverfield (hype usually equals tripe!) but if it's good enough for George, then it's good enough for me!

Favourite film though...... That's a toughy.

Somewhere between Fight Club (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/), Snatch (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208092/), LockStock (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120735/) and Smokin' Aces (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475394/). Mind you Outlaw (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758771/) had a profound effect on me but I've only seen it the once, must get that one ordered!

Andy we seem to share a very similar interest when it comes to films :D
All of your favourites, I too, think are great! Snatch and Lock Stock are cool.

You will like I Am Legend. Good movie. I think Will Smith is awesome!

Nobody can forget Independence Day!

:D

As far as current films go, I recommend The Orphanage, its produced by the same director who gave us Pans Labrinyth. Is incredibly well filmed and is terrifying (think the others!):D

Classic films, well you just can't beat Jurassic Park!

Has the wonderful Jeff Goldlbum in it from Interpendence day!

Nobody can forget Independence Day!

However much we try!! :)

The Orphanage (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/trailers-me60965548) has had some great reviews. Haven't seen it yet, but my mates keep going on about it. Just seen the trailer and it looks abit scary for me (surely you'd just leave the place) but a good thriller now and then is good to get the heart racing.

Confuscious, I always new you were a big softy!

For tear jerkers, I'm gonna have to play my wild card.

Pink Floyd's The Wall (http://quidcompare.quids-in-uk.co.uk/CashbackPriceComparison/Pink+Floyd+The+Wall/240.html) is the only film that has ever made me cry.

There's a scene where Pink is about 5 yr old and his mum leaves him in the park to play while she goes shopping. He tries to tag onto another kids Dad (his died in the war) but gets told to clear off ("Go on lad, sling yer 'ook, sling yer 'ook"). So he sits on the swings alone, rocking but not swinging. When his pet lip comes out, that's me gone. Must've seen it a hundred times, but it gets everytime.

I'm welling up just thinking about it!
:o

Titanic for me (as sad as that is)

I was about 16 / 17 though, and watching it with a mate who was also weeping.

I must have been ill.

Definately.

My turn.....:p

Hmmm.... Well, i cant believe Lord Of The Rings has not got a mention yet for starters...!

Think i've got waaayy to many to think of right now... Some classics that spring to mind are:

Scarface, Goodfellas, Top Gun, Back to the Future, Nightmare on Elm street, Rocky (all of them),

Also cant forget the laughable teen comedies... (even though extremely tacky!)

American Pie (all of them),
Road Trip,
Van Wilder ... WOW - Tara Reid :D

Haven't seen too many films recently so a little out of convo with the new ones

Better get watching....

Not a film watcher, or tv really but as a child my favourite had to be Back to the Future

Just finished watching I am Legend
damn good stuff!

Only spoilt by the (what is now obligitory) Stars and Stripes at the end. they have to cram it down our throats don't they!?!

Pretty decent Zombie flick all the same, highly recommend if you haven't seen it yet.

On the subject of Zoms, I forgot to mention the best Zom ever: Shaun of the Dead.
It's a Rom Com, with Zom, so a Zom Rom Com if you will! :D

Hasn't George A Romero just released a new Zombie movie? Diary of the Dead I think it is called.
I do like Zombie movies, I even, and yes I am ashamed, enjoyed the Resident Evil films :D

diary of the dead is infact the worst film I have ever seen...

For zombie films it has to be either 28 Days later or Shaun of the dead:D

MARTY MCFLY!

Definately agree with that, all time great. Watch the film Lord of War (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399295/) with Nicholas Cage, brilliant film.

Also, midnight express (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077928/).

Not to be missed.

Ah.........Midnight Express!
That takes me back. I watched it with my mum and dad when it came out on Video. I was way under age, probably about 10 or 11.
First time I saw a pair of breasts!

First time I saw a pair of breasts! I think I was about a day old, so I started early!

My favourite film has to be the Shawshank Redemption - a bit like affi marketing really, in that whatever happens then you should never let the b*st*rds get you down!

Firstly, gotta be a tad anal as it's my favourite overall genre of movie and point out to those on about zombie films, regarding the critters in 28 Days Later and I Am Legend, they are only infected and are still actually alive and thus not zombies and the movies themselves are in fact classed as post apocolyptic movies (sorry I know I'm being picky there)... My favourite zombie movie has to be the 2005 version of Land of The Dead, purely on the fact that the zombies get their own back. I've heard very bad things about Diary of The Dead, it appears that Romero has opted to save his worst zombie flick till last.

My all time favourite movie has to be Aliens, with The Killing Fields in close second. After that some of my other favourites include Groundhog Day, Assualt on Precinct 13 (the original version), Jaws, Star Wars (Episode 4 - A New Hope), Terminator, Empire of The Sun and Uncle Buck (although I could say the entire John huges collection, as I love em all).

I would also add Shawshank and Green Mile as they are right up there, but they've been mentioned already.

I'm not just a fan I am a total addict when it comes to movies, I just wish I had more space to store em.

Haha, very funny!

Yes you are correct Amoochi, post apocalyptic.
I like the very original Night of the Living Dead, and Dawn of the Dead, they are dated but back then I bet they were all the rage! I know I would have snuck into the cinema to see it.

I love the Hannibal Lector films, I think he is such a fascinating character, albeit a cannibal. I really liked the new one too, Hannibal Rising.

Weekend at Bernie's ... :D I had to mention that.

I have recently started a Public Domain Film section. I have already got nearly 50 films available though some are pretty dire in terms of quality but there are some very good ones too. I keep adding a few a week though it does take time.

I have created divx trailers with the full film being available to be downloaded off a premium download service (400+ download speed).

Why am I bothering?
Well I like watching old movies and it can be hard to get them off the net at times so I thought to build my own collection up.

There is a universal media player download link on the site. The player will play everything as far as I know. This is necessary as the files are all in different formats.

Still if you want to view some movies feel free to check out my site here:

http://publicdomain.bluesplayer.co.uk/

By the way I am not making money on these films or anything as it is just a bit of fun really. Keeps me occupied!
