Since its launch, the ShopWindow forum has been growing consistently. We now have over 350 registered members, and each week these members help each other to solve various ShopWindow related problems.
Any organised gathering must have rules if it is to operate efficiently, and the ShopWindow forum is no exception. We want our visitors to feel welcome and to be able to help others with any problems and thus also gain knowledge for themselves. We like to think of it as a friendly forum and there are inevitably some do's and don'ts that must be observed. Regular forum users will be familiar with much of what follows. Newcomers, who may be unfamiliar with forum procedures, should find it useful.
Our membership is representative of all levels of computing, beginner to expert, and no matter what your problem, there will almost certainly be someone who can help you to resolve your issue.
We would also like to hear from you if you have an idea for an improvement, or some extra content in regards to ShopWindow. We can't promise to translate your ideas into action, but we'll look into your proposal or suggestion.
Forum Guidelines:
A robust system of day to day conduct should be in place, which we believe helps the forum to function smoothly. We look to our members to abide by the system.
Personal Contact Details – please do not include any personal contact information in a public post within this forum, this includes your phone number, address, or even your email. For obvious reasons, this may result in a lot of unwanted responses.
Offensive behaviour – please refrain from posting material of an offensive nature, this includes words of a racist, sexist, hateful, obscene, profane, pornographic, threatening or vulgar form and generally any words that are likely to cause offensive to any manner of individual. Such posts will be deleted without warning.
Paid Service – at no point will any member of this forum offer services, of any nature, to another member with the intention of being paid for the work. This violates the essence in which this forum was initially created and will not be tolerated by either the moderators or the hard working members that make this forum a success. If you wish to enquire about someone’s services or the opportunity to offer your services please private message members. Such posts will be deleted without warning and users will be instantly banned.
Thread titles – please title your threads with a meaningful title so that other forum users can clearly see the subject matter and can then in turn respond accordingly. “Aaaarrrghhhh!!! DATAFEEDS!!!” is likely to irritate moderators and members and may not attract the right form of help.
Information – when posting a thread please try to include as much information as you can. This will help moderators and members narrow down the problem and hopefully provide a solution and prevent them from having to reply constantly asking for certain pieces of information.
ShopWindow FAQ – search the FAQ, we say this because when a recurring error is noticed by moderators we will update the FAQ in order to keep a bank of such errors. This will provide a base for users to search and troubleshoot which will save posting yet another thread about the same inaccuracy.
External Links/Uploaded Material – if you must supply a link within a post to an external site please make sure that the link is directly relevant to ShopWindow and the nature of the forum. Please do not post links to adult sites and suchlike. Such posts will be deleted without warning. In regards to uploading information, the uploading of such material, which contains known and purposefully included errors, viruses or other harmful components, will not be tolerated.
Copyright Infringement – we do not permit the posting of material that the poster does not have the right to own. This is a serious breach of the law and will not be accepted. You may not use the services on the forum to publish or distribute any information (including software or other content) which is illegal, which violates or infringes upon the rights of any other person.
