View Full Version : How do i simply get all the products under a specific category !!!
I have a very simple problem !!!
I just want to retrieve all the products under a specific category,
looking in the example code i found thati can do like this
for e.g
$aMIds = array(1600,422);
$aProParams = array('iCategoryId'=>351,'aMerchantIds'=>$aMIds, 'iLimit'=>10, 'iOffset'=>0, 'bIncludeDescendants'=>false);
$response = $oClient->call('getProductList', $aProParams);
$iReturnCount = $response->iReturnCount;
$iTotalCount = $response->iTotalCount;
echo "iReturnCount".$iReturnCount."<br/>";
echo "iTotalCount".$iTotalCount;
and after getting my $iTotalCount i can again make the same call to the function but this time i can set the limit to the count i got from previous call but i found that if i set the limit to the value of $iTotalCount or event setting it to a value slightly lower than that for e.g 100 lower than the value i got for iTotalCount i get a soap error.
I just have a simple question if i have a category (for e.g category id 351) which does not have any descendent categories and i want to get all the products under this category how do i do that.
If anyone has any code sample i would highly appreciate that !!!
Thanks
gurpreet
I know how, it's quite easy.
but seeing as you're now a paid developer who'll probably be charging for research and development, I'll let you research and develop this yourself
try researching and developing the search feature on these forums

Thanks, comments like that makes it very helpful for the rest of us.

Actually they do. The search engine is there for all of us and subjects like this particular one have been covered a hell of a lot of times already.
I think people sometimes forget that although it's nice to be helpful, every single person that comes to this forum is actually competing against each other for sales and income, therefore helping others is actually down to personal choice, not obligation. So when someone comes along who someone else obviously knows is getting paid for developing and the likes, then why the heck should anyone else voluntarily give up their knowledge to them.
Every single day I come to this forum and every single day I see the same questions being asked over and over by new members who have spotted Shop Window and have decided that they too could easily boost their income, if only they knew how to install the scripts and if only they knew how to change the logo and wait, if only they too knew how to do this with the categories and that with the hotpicks and this with the colours cheme and that with the div tags and wait, also how do you get it so it has pretty spider friendly links, etc, etc, etc... So all these people come on here asking those of us who have forecably learnt all this ourselves, for help, so that they can then go and put up multiple shops that will actually be nothing more than the generic shop, but with a different name and maybe a couple of different pictures, so they can spam the spiders costing the rest of us money, without having put any effort at all themselves in to what they've done.
I've been with Affiliate Windows since the first month of their existance and over the years have seen affiliate marketing change and evolve to the point that it is completely different to what it first was, yet the one constant always remains... People think they can make money for nothing and get other people to do all the work for them and it p**ses me off no end. Christ one fella on here has even been kind enough to actually make sets of templates that can be used for free by anyone who wants, out the goodness of his heart, yet I bet that aint enough and that people still bother him asking, nay, demanding for extras and other stuff to be done with them.
So... when a paid developer comes on here asking for others to give free help with something they are getting paid to do, then as far as i'm concerned, they can go to hell...
A bigger question really though, is why you bumped a 9 month old thread just to bitch at someone?

Well said, Amoochi.
The amount of 'free' info on here is enough for anyone to make some money with SW if they pick the right bits and put some effort in - the fact is that 95%+ of the installations of SW are consigned to the Google duplicate content bin. when SW first came out then I knew nothing of php as a scripting language and I would now consider myself fairly proficient, well proficient enough to make sure that my versions of SW bear as little resemblance to the original as is possible in terms of SEO, at the very minimum. Lots of experimentation and hard graft is required to get decent results and as time goes by the lame implementations will wither and die, if they have not already done so.
If people have 'technical' type questions then why don't they ask for 'technical' support from the developers PRIOR to coming on here, expecting a free ticket and having a whinge. I believe that I have earned the right to exhibit my tiny iota of sarcasm now and again but having an asbestos skin also helps should anyone want to flame me.
I am sure that Andy would have replied in a similar vein but he's probably a bit busy organising his impending trip - up the aisle!
