I have noticed that a few categories (e.g. ... /category.php?c=337 ... /category.php?c=232) are shown in the Category tree but when clicked they contain no products and the display seems to default back to an index page layout. Is there a way to hide empty categories or display a suitable message?

Also related to categories, the 'Super' categories show 3 random categories - is it possible to increase / decrease this number OR show none / all?

Having fun with this, but a great way to see just how awful some / most? of the product feeds are - leads me to think that we might need a feed rating system and a simple way to exclude a merchant if his feed is not up to scratch but that's a whole new topic on its own!

Hi Paul,

Please find answers to your queries below;

"I have noticed that a few categories (e.g. ... /category.php?c=337 ... /category.php?c=232) are shown in the Category tree but when clicked they contain no products and the display seems to default back to an index page layout. It is possible to exclude empty categories by including parameters within yoru code. Please refer to Appendix 1 as I believe there should be something in there to help you.

"Also related to categories, the 'Super' categories show 3 random categories - is it possible to increase / decrease this number OR show none / all?"

In order to do this, you can edit the category_tree.tpl file, located within templates/templatex/elements.

"Having fun with this, but a great way to see just how awful some / most? of the product feeds are - leads me to think that we might need a feed rating system and a simple way to exclude a merchant if his feed is not up to scratch but that's a whole new topic on its own!"

Agree with you on the quality of some feeds, but this is something that we are going to be looking into as a priority over the next few weeks, requesting a better dataset and product categorisation from all of our merchants.

This will help to further enhance the product results returned through ShopWindow, in the interest of both affiliates and the users :D

Thanks
