I've had a play with this shop system now for a day or two

It's a great product but doesn't seem to be working correctly

Has anyone actually tried using the search ?

Here's one that I did

I selected the video gaming section to search in (using the drop down box next to the search field) and typed in:

hitman xbox 360

The return came up with '
No Results Found We could not find anything to match your search. Please refine your search terms.'

strange as you would have thought that all the stores like play or blah would have had it in stock ?

So I narrowed the search down and selected the 'video games' option in the drop down box for sections to search

This brought up 2 results - one was 'Fight Night Round 3 from Blah DVD' for the ps2 and the other was 'Fight Night Round 3 from Blah DVD' for the xbox 360 - but no results from other stores like play.com ??

So I thought I would just search 'all categories' and again did a search for hitman xbox 360

This brought up four results of varying success one of which was hitman on the xbox 360 but at a shocking price of about £43 - again only one retailer returned results on it.

I would imagine any potential customers clicking onto the shop and searching would be disappointed and confused by some of the strange results found in the different sections.. ?

HI Guys,

I have been made aware of this and am looking into this with our Development Team.

It may be that you are only searching the 'Parent' category, and not its descedents.

So the parent is "books and subscriptons" but products are actually mapped to the child category of 'books'.

I will return to you shortly.

Thanks Amo

I would hope that the searches of the parents and all categories can identify the products too though

e.g. a search for 'toshiba w324tx' brings up the 32" toshiba tv from all the shops who have it - no matter where you search for it (.e.g. all categories, electrical, tv's etc)

Well I think that is the feeling I got -- but if it returns under the direct category [assuming the customer knows this] and also under All categories [blind search] it should be linked to the parent category.

If I was trying to find something then I would go to the closest category to my destination in this case "books and subscriptions" because that is the only choice I have in the drop down list.

Absolutely

I think most people would just use the 'all categories' search though wouldn't they ?

H Guys,

This was a bug in the code.

Please find an attached file called class.page_search.txt. Please take this file, change it to a .php file and place within /includes/classes/, replacing the existing file within there.

This should sort the problem.

Thanks

Amo

Any chance of setting up a separate closed forum category for bug fixes and a changelog? I just found this fix even though it was not what I was looking for!
