Error Log : Undefined variable: bAutonomy

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem here, I've uploaded all the files on more than one occasion changed permissions on templates_c and although there are no actual errors displayed on site and although everything seems to be working fine, I have still discovered the following errors in my cpanel Error logs section.

As I said I've uploaded all the files. I even got the script installed on a different server which is working file. So I assume it's perhaps something to do with the dynamics. I don't know what version of PHP is running as it doesn't say for some reason but it's CPANEL 11.15.0-RELEASE which I think is the latest version.

Anyway the first 50 errors of around 250 errors or so I get if I call for the index.php are:

I get slightly different ones if I call the other pages.

I've done a phpinfo() on the server and discovered its PHP Version 4.4.7 if that helps. As I said to look at the site it appears to be working it's only through cpanels Error Logs that I've managed to uncover this.

I get a large string of errors from every page ie index.php category.php product.php and search.php.

The shortest string of errors I receive is when I click a product lead to goto.php, which when called produces just the following three errors if that helps anyone...

I've sorted it...

It was obviously a PHP compatibility issue because each error started with "PHP NOTICE". So I placed a php.ini file in the default directory firstly permitting register_globals. Which worked first time.

Now either I got lucky and the issue is associated with the globals permission which is deactivated on this my server, or it could be an entirely different issue which by inserting a virtually empty php.ini solved the problem by by-passing in-active permissions in the original php.ini

If anyone knows exactly what the problem may have been then please post it here.

As I said my recent actions have definitely cleared the problem as if I delete the php.ini file the problem returns.

Ive only just found this old post.

I had a similar problem with undefined variables. rather than open up a whole new can of worms by setting register-globals to ON, i simply defined those indexes in my global.inc.php file.

Register_Globals is a huge security risk, which will be why your host has them set to OFF in the first place. Setting them to ON will allow variables to be called for without existing (ending your errors) but it'll also allow people to set variables in get strings in your URLs.
