View Full Version : So many merchants...so few applied for...
So I have SW installed and it looks great. But there are alot of merchants I have not applied to yet. Do I have to have applied to all the merchants to get commission or does ShopWindow work different and I get commission from those stores anyway.
Surely I have to apply to them all right? And if people click out and buy on a link from a company I havent signed up with I get nothing?
Unusual as it sounds, you don't have to apply to all the merchants.
The magic of the Shopwindow s'ware means that you are a kind of 'soft' member, if you'll excuse the phrase. If they show in your shopwindow then you'll get commission. No need to join them (test this by clicking through on a couple and see your stats in AW).
Some merchants will not automatically be in there though as they have terms and conditions to accept, but you can apply to join them in your 'merchant manager' section of AW. Once they accept you then, hey presto, they'll appear in your Shopwindow!
(there is more about this is in other threads eg. http://www.shopwindowforum.com/showthread.php?t=108&highlight=join)
Hi Guys,
Just to reinforce what 'Bud' said: The ShopWindow tool gives you access to products from across approx. 500+ of our merchants (via Client Software or API). By default you will be automatically joined to roughly 300 of these, the others will require either a manual application to join, or an acceptance to the programmes Terms & Conditions.
Hope that helps :) ,

Hi Adrian .... please could you tell me how we would find out who the other 200 are, so that we could then decide whether to apply to them or not?
Wouldn't want to miss out on any good ones :D
Hi Daisy Duke,
Please see the 'Merchant Manager' section in your affiliate account (within the SW area). Within here you can use the 'Filter By My ShopWindow' drop down list to report back all Merchants who are currently 'not' in your ShopWindow. You can then select to join/block the ones you want/don't want within here.
Hope that helps ;) ,

Hi
I am very new 'Newbie' to shop window and have just installed it yesterday, looks OK. However can anyone help me please I went to look at merchants who were not featured on my basic site and selected one to join. I went through the process as indicated from the menus and got this eror code.
Illegal action performed!
You just performed an illegal action, which has been logged and a notification was sent to the admin.
You IP is: 90.199.22.192 (5ac716c0.bb.sky.com)
A bit alarming to a newbie can anyone explain this please.:o
cheers
Hi Telsave,
I had the exact same problem yesterday when joining Marks & Spencer. It's nothing to do with your account or shop window, just an AW site problem.
I raised a ticket and someone signed me up manually. They wanted to know what browser I was using (firefox 2.0.0.11) so it might be worth letting them know so they can fix the problem.
I also pointed out the "You performed an illegal action..." message is a little over the top and just a bit threatening for such a basic error. Maybe "Sorry, there was an error, please contact support" might be more appropriate. I'm sure if I was doing something illegal I wouldn't give a crap that my IP was logged because I'd be pretty stupid to be using a trackable IP in the first place!
Hi Authcode
Thanks for comforting reply, I agree 'You have done something illegal' is a bit heavy handed. I expected 28 policemen to raid my house at 6am today, or is that just football agents :)
Good luck with your site
cheers
Hi Guys,
LOL you have put a smile on my face this morning - your definitely right - its a bit intense isn't it ;)
Ive let our Dev guys and head of support know about this and hopefully they will tone it down a bit.
Cheers

Hi,
I have just created a widget, and found that it includes products from Amazon, I could not see amazon listed as a merchant on Affiliate Window, so is this right?
Cheers
