I have setup SW client and get the following on screen

ShopWindow Client v1.0 status
WSDL access check: NO (The WSDL file cannot be loaded from [http://api.productserve.com/v1/ProductServeService?wsdl])
PHP check: OK
Template folder writable: YES
USER_ID set: YES
USER_PASS set: YES

Can anyone advise why the WSDL access check has failed?

Many Thanks

I have seen this appear randomly on a few occasions without explanation - try refreshing the call (F5) and see if you have any joy.

Thanks Paul, this is consistant, I have refreshed my browser and looked from other PCs, but always receive the same messages.

The only other thing that I can think of is the fact that DigiWindow in effect put a restriction on new accounts prior to yesterday's migration - I wonder if you are caught in this limbo land? Perhaps , you could PM Adrian or Amo to find out the latest position on this.

Hello,

I normally use ASP on a Windows server so as the Shopwindow product used PHP I loaded it to a Linux server.

This is the reply I have received from the hosting company.

SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol).

Applications requiring SOAP, are difficult to run at the best of times.

Its microsoft technology, and this server uses apache running on linux or unix based operating system. It noting to do with the hosting company, any apache server on any operating system will give simular results when using SOAP.

Apache SOAP doesn't support WSDL, and it has some interoperability problems.

Ask your provider of web software to support open source, software and ensure that any application they write supports open standards to make sure you software runs across all platforms.

------------------------------------

If this is the reason, does anyone know where I can get PHP on a windows platform?

The response from your hosting company would lead me to ....

get a new hosting company!

I am not a techie but that seems like a load of claptrap! I am sure the techies could confirm?

You will probably need to contact SW support and give them more details than you have provided here.

I run my sites on VPS (Apache / Linux) but I am sure there are plenty here who can offer suggestions on suitable shared hosting, etc.

Mcderd - I'm no expert but that also sounds like rubbish to me. I'm running PHP4 on linux hosting and have experienced no problems with WSDL.

SOAP may have been developed with Microsoft backing but is certainly not a Microsoft product and is in fact recommended by the W3C.

If your hosting company are spouting crap like that I'd look for a different host.

Hi mcderd,

I have been speaking with our development team about this and they have confirmed that this statement is VERY UNTRUE! It may be an idea to look into alternative providers for your hosting if you continue to experience difficulties with this.

Follow Up,

I have uploaded ShopWindow to another host, got a message about permissions as I had forgotten to do the CHMOD, the WSDL error did not occur.

So I set the permissions, now I just get a blank page, I edited index.php and added some text to ensure it was loading and it was.

Any ideas?

Dennis

Just to continue the technical aspect:

My first shop was set-up with no WSDL problem. I've now started a new site on the same host and get:

WSDL access check: NO (The WSDL file cannot be loaded from [PS_WSDL])

It would therefore seem to me that this is not a host problem.

Also, personally I'm concerned at 1and1 being suggested so freely. My own experience with them has been nothing but terrible and IMO I would not recommend them to my worst enemies!

What does the WSDL do anyway?

What would happen if I just removed the check for it in the status.php?
