Just wondered, is this a career or a hobby?
I am an IT Service Manager (ITIL qualified) and have a shopwindow implementation for a hobby and a bit of spare cash.

Must be brown trousers when the API returns nulls or the whole thing grinds to a halt then !

It is indeed, particularly when you happen to be on holiday in Croatia when the announcement that the whole thing is being paused is made, and have to edit a ton of pages on the server from an internet café...
'Tis the price of being your own boss though, and I wouldn't swap this for any other career.

Had a similar experience, got off the plane in Greece turned mobile on only to be informed a big site had gone down!! hunting for the nearest internet cafe was great fun, not
Obviously shopwindow isnt my only affiliate site
Been my own boss for 4 years now, lovely, dont think i could ever do a "real" job again.

Hi all,
Jacked the 'normal' job in a couple of years ago. More hours, less free time, ongoing steep learning curve... Wouldn't go back though :D
I was a chef for 15 years, but was really sick of the hours and poor pay, so around 4 years ago quit and started working from home doing this sort of thing. Thankfully I have a very supportive wife who has worked hard while I learn my new trade.
This is my first go at doing a full on shopping affiliate site though, so it's a bit of a learning curve for me.

Same here and don't forget 'no regular income' though I'm working on that :-)
Do various things. Create banners and button adverts for 3rd party sites, do some SEO, build websites, create and manage my horsy site, www.equineonline.net. Am also in the process of launching various property websites, mainly equestrian and/or in France. Lived in France for a couple of years where I set up a large community portal site for expats which I subsequently sold. That's about it :)
