Niche Websites

Hello All,

I am not very well versed in PHP, but, I have the following question.

What, where and how do I stipulate a particular category for my website?

I only want to have one particular category (parent) with it's sub-categories, and the "Hot Picks" to be selected from these.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm getting a bit anxious with this. I want to customise my site also, but there's not a lot of info coming back.

Is it just me ? I want to make my site shine, but I can't get the information I need.

Sorry but I need help with customisation. I don't really want to pay anyone to do it, if I can get some help.

You can restrict your site to a certain part of the category structure but you may well experience some leakage away through drop down menu links and if you hard code searches. You can certainly achieve a starting theme for a site in a relatively short time but restricting it to that theme is not easy in the longer term.

I am hopeful that the idea of being able to create targeted niche sites will become easier in the future as Shop window functionality is developed further.
