View Full Version : Hot Picks on Index Problem?
Hi
I've managed to find where to edit the hotpicks on the index and change the number shown, but have a problem.
If I choose jewellery (540) I get 8 random jewellery products.
But if I then choose GPS/SatNav (80) I only get 4 products... yet in the GPS category there's more than 4 products...
It's a bit baffling and so far has resulted in 4 complete restarts, remove mods and go right back to basics... and the conclusion is... I don't have a clue why it's doing it?
The best solution so far is bin off the hotpicks on the index and leave em :)
But is this a bug, quirk, something else or have I missed something obvious?

Hi Jason
My understanding is that individual merchants identify Hotpicks in their individual feeds, so you will get a differing number if Hotpicks in each category.
An improvement would be if the number of hotpicks is less than requested number then fill with random products from that category, etc. No doubt this will a suggested improvement!

Hi Jason,
I have had a meeting about the Hot Picks this morning with both our Account Management and Account Development teams.
We have identified a large number of merchants that are yet to identify and administer their Hot Picks, and this will be initiated as a priority project from monday.
As we make progress with this I will update this forum, but if you have any queries in the meantime please dont hesitate to contact me.

Hi Gunner / Andy,
Apologies for my delay on this.
Thuy in our Account Development team has been looking after the Hot Picks project and actively pushing our merchants to identify products as Hot Picks.
I am aware that she has made a significant amount of progress on this and I will get her to provide a list of merchants that have completed this task through her efforts shortly.
Also with regards to the Hot Picks defaulting to that of the category that a user is within, I believe that this is already the case?
I have conducted a couple of searches on ShopWindow.com and found that relevant Hot Picks are returned.
If I have misunderstood this please let me know and I can look into this further.

gotta admit, that lately my hot_picks have been of better quality.
When i display them relevant to the page category, they are all relevant now.
And I'm find less and less white elephants in there too.
