Several useful additions:-

1) Special Offers -

This could take in a categoryId, MerchantId or ProductId allowing us to display any current offers available. This could then be linked with the product results allowing us to flag products with any current offers or discount codes available!

2) Banners

This could take a MerchantId and allow us to select and display any banner from the retailer's creatives.

3) Working the same way as Bannners except this would be a background process allowing us to send merchant Newsletters out to our user lists directly from the creatives.

4) Retailers + Retailer Categories

A dynamic call to all retailers linked with thier own category list , showing detailed consumer side info for the retailer.

Pretty Pls....;)

Offers and coupons would be awesome. A coupon object with linking ids from product and merchant objects?

My thoughts on this based on an example from today's inbox. Consider the following:

"Dear Affiliate,

This weeks offers from BeCheeky.com are as follows:

Offer One: Free Holiday Beach Bag with every swimwear order over £45. (bag automatically issued with order).

Offer Two: 20% Off the Mademoiselle brand until 7th May. (discount applied in shopping basket)

Don't forget, your site visitors can also claim a fabulous St Tropez self tan kit when they purchase any bikini, swimsuit or tankini. Discount code FREETAN must be used in the checkout process.

Banners promoting these offers are available from the network.

If you need anything further to help you promote BeCheeky.com, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Claire"

So take Offer One - personally, I would like to see this offer added as if it were a product in its own right (zero price!) to a new TOP LEVEL category / subcategory structure ( Coupons / Coupons by Area, say) - all such offers would congregate together, Secondly as the offer is on swimwear then this offer text should form part of the product description for every item that goes towards contributing to the offer.

Offer Two - same approach a specific coupon and added to all of the Brand's products descriptions.

Offer Three - same approach but applying to the named product groups.

So I can find all three vouchers as part of ALL vouchers but when I land on a Mademoiselle swimsuit PRODUCT PAGE then all three offers would be visible to me as they would form part of the product descriptions.

Now if we could get all merchants to play this particular game then I think we might see an increase in the lamentable conversion rates - if there is an offer available then the visitor MUST be informed at the earliest opportunity.

Personally, I built a test site a little while ago based on a mySQL set up where I appended banner offers to appropriate products from different merchant but when you visited a page containing products from many merchants - a quite dramatic increase in quality. The fact is that for me as an individual to attempt to do this would consume an inordinate amount of time but if each merchant was trained to a new methodology then the many users of shop window would, in my opinion, benefit greatly.

Views?

Paul

PS I would love to know what Amo / Clare think of trialling a small test! Clare did ask whether we needed more anything further and I know Amo is keen to improve matters!

FreeContribute,

As a temp work around for the banners try joining the merchants whos banners you would like to display and then use javascript to randomly display them.

The coupon codes is a must, if someone gets to the checkout and sees a coupon code box, the first thing they do is search google for the code,

If they click the link to verify its the same merchant, the original affiliate has lost the sale.

If you cant get the merchants to update their accounts with the codes for indevidual products, add a section to our AW accounts were we can add the codes and tie them to the merchants, so the code will display with that merchants products.

This may only be truely viable for discounts that apply to all products ie discount on basket value, but it would be simply for AW to implement and its certainly better then no discounts at all.

By adding a drop down box to choose the catagory the offer belongs to and adding a link box for the offer link and image link and text, this could be included down to product level, give these offers a priority so they display first in the page, a start and end date will determin if the offer is active, so inactive codes are not displayed.

This would encourage more merchants to offer discount codes.

Create an offers category, and repeat the category tree within that category, pulling in offers listed in our AW account,

This will put the responcibility of keeping offers up todate on the affiliates, but will also mean affiliates have control over what offers they choose to display, and how they wish to promote them.
