Crikey

Installed a short while ago - and already the API quota has been used up

It went incredibly quickly - less than an hour !?!?

I've contacted Affiliate Window to see if they can increase the quota to allow me to sell via this method so hopefully will be back up and running asap ? (otherwise what's the point ?)

Out of interest, what message is displayed to the user if the quota is used up?

The main page goes whacky !

It all stops functioning and the following messages are splattered onto the screen

soaperror Object ( [sCode] => ns1:Client.LIMIT_1 [sString] => Insufficient Quota [sDetails] => getCategoryTree: You have used all your quota for the month )

Initial quota is just for testing purposes then you notify AW when you are going live which removes the tight quota.

Have informed AW

Their support usually takes ages to respond so I'm not holding my breath waiting for a reply

Gutted though as I'd set the thing up - announced it to site visitors and was getting some great usage from it

(my fault though - should have waited before announcing it !)

Hi Neil,

As mentioned in my email (which should be on its way) I have increased your quota.

I will be monitoring this as best as I can to ensure you dont hit your allowance again, but please let me know if you see it burning out very quickly again! :)

Sorted as promised

Initial results suggest that I'll be burning this quota big time as word spreads - although initially I think that my site visitors are just playing with it and trying it out to get used to it.

Are play.com not joining in with this as I don't seem to get any play.com results from searches ?

Hi All,

Just a quick message to clarify in terms of Quota.

We put an initial quota in place for the API in order to monitor our servers and usage.

As this is the first API tool we are releasing we were slightly heading into the unknown, and so wanted to ensure that the ShopWindow Toolset service was not disrupted in anyway (due to loads on servers etc).

Using your input I will be discussing this issue with our development team, in order to re-evaluate a feasible quota on initial download, and going live thereafter.

At the moment we are increasing the quota to around 50,000 calls per day (on reciept of your increase request), but again this is a temporary confirmation until my meeting tommorrow.

I will make a post on both the A4U and ShopWindow forums providing further details tommorrow.
