ShopWindow categories change from time to time as products or customers change. Categories are important to my website and I was wondering if there is any place this info is published. Also I wouldn't mind an up-to-date definitive list of current categories.

Hello Shrewdie,
The ShopWindow categories can be found on the wiki.

Hi George,
Thank you, that's great.
Just a suggestion but it would make sense to perhaps continue to list recently deleted categories but have them highlighed in a different colour - that would enable people like me to make any necessary changes without having to check through all the categories. For example I see that Hotels category 339 has been deleted.
The above explains a reply I received to a ticket that I raised suggesting that Hotels such as Macdonalds and Warner be classified under Hotels rather than Accomodation. My reasoning was that people search through Hotels when they want a hotel and through Accomodation when they want something different like B&B. Also hotels are listed elsewhere (Kelkoo, Pricerunner etc) under hotels.
Hi Shrewdie,
I am not sure when Hotels was deleted as a category but I would imagine that the general idea behind it is that Accommodation would encompass all aspects or simply it may be because the category was not in use.
If we include a Hotels category because Kelkoo and Pricerunner have one then it would mean getting all of the merchants to change their category mappings to reflect this new structure. I am sure that you can appreciate that this would take time and resource for merchants to sort this out and in the past when we have done this we find that only one or two merchants might get involved which leaves the category very bland.
ShopWindow provide vertical solutions (such as Entertainment, Gifts and Mobiles) which deeply develop upon certain verticals within the category tree. Travel would be one such vertical and I see your suggestions being a necessary aspect of that.
