Hello
I have just converted 6 of my niche stores over to the shop window client v2 and am now a bit nervous with tracking and sales etc. A few of my niche sites were set up with merchant data feeds in the past and had built up fairly good serps, and acheived fairly good sales - at least they were fairly good sales from my expectations so I was quite happy! Obviously I would have liked as many sales as poss, but I am fairly grounded in my expectations of most things!
I know the url structures have now completely changed, as I am not good enough to write custom mod_rewrites (wish that could be included in next release of shopwindow client) but have included custom 404 pages on each site to try and keep the visitor from exiting stage left as soon as they land on a link that no longer exists.
I don't know if it just a sign of the times, general economic slowdown and all that, but clicks and sales seem to have headed south drastically.
My father lives out in spain and was looking for some memory cards for his digi cam, so I pointed him in the direction of one of my sites where he found a merchant that shipped into europe - so he found a great deal, placed an order and is now very happy with his 3 memory cards that arrived a few days after.
But i got no sale recorded in my account, the click was there, well i presume it was his click, but nowt else!
I am just a bit worried that this may now be happening on all my other converted to v2 client sites, some clicks are still registering but they seem way down on what I have had in the past - so whether it is me being completly paranoid or just the sign of the times until things hopefully pick up again.
I have checked all the api passwords, and affiliate id etc that are setup in the client when you download it and they mirror what is in my account on the awin site.
Just one last question - My fathers IP address will obvoiusly be a non UK IP address, i don't suppose that has anything to do with the missed sale or bad tracking? I presume there is no sort of obscure filter in place with awin or shopwin with regard to non uk ip addresses placing orders, and in fact that overseas orders are allowed and not just focused on the UK with awin?
Many thanks for listening. :)
