Hey,
I just launched Chemist Compare (http://www.chemistcompare.co.uk). Could anyone give me any pointers or thoughts on the site.
Also how would i incorporate shopwindow into the template of the home page?
Thanks,
Ben
I'd say before you go any further, look at the main page using IE. Your layout/alignments are all over the place at the moment.

they look fine to me :S
Well this is what i'm seeing on a 1280x1024 setting on the latest version of IE:
http://www.totalformat.com/chemistcompare.jpg
how do you Compare the prices? I can't find any mention of it other thasn in the domain name.
Yeah my IE is doing the same as Amoochi's.
Also, I think that when you hit the productlist page and have the blue background and blue text, it conflicts and is potentially not as clear as it could be. Especially with the popular searches area.
Also no categories are coming up in the drop down box on the homepage, the others seem fine like on productlist.
Cheers

You're missing a doctype which doesnt help, and id's should only be used once, use class instead

Hi ben, I'd lose the pre-populated popular searches, and build some of your own in that area, most of them are showing only one or two results.
lose this:
include_once('elements'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'query _list.php');
replace with something like this;
<div class="sw_tagcloud">
<h2>Popular Searches</h2><a href="http://www.chemistcompare.co.uk/compare/productlist.php?q=mac+make+up" title="Mac Make Up" >Mac Make Up</a>

Then add or take away whatever your main focus is gonna be, oh, and the top logo is a bit noisy, you need to lose the background grain...

how did you know how many searches they had had?

Ben, it wasn't searches i was looking at, just results, and most of the shopwindow generated 'popular searches' only yielded 2 or 3 products in your vertical.
The suggestions I gave you are based on popular searches on one of my other sites ;) , not fuelled by shopwindow.

Whatn do you think now? http://chemistcompare.co.uk and the new blog - http://blog.chemistcompare.co.uk/blog.html
My instant thought is... "It's supposed to be Chemist Compare, why is there links to electrical stuff or adult toys or stuff like that". Obviously I know why being another user of Shop Windows, but your visitors may not quite get it.
My next thought, the blog looks nice and neat and nicely set out, yet the shop part to be brutally honest, looks cheap and like the default shop with the colour changed and a feed bit bolted on to the bottom. I'm sorry if that is harsh, but you've got to look at it from the point of view of a first time visitor when planning these things.
If they see: http://www.shopwindow.com
and then see:http://chemistcompare.co.uk/
Honestly, which one do you think the visitor is likely to go back to?
Personally, i'd say go look at the some of the sites on the following link:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ShopWindow+in+association+with+AffiliateWindow&meta=
That's what and who your competing against and have to do better than, if you want to actually make some money from this and not just give up like so many in those links have done in the past. Only the best and most original ShopWindow sites hear the kerrching's regularly.
