Hi All,
I have had a meeting with our Head of Development about the latency issue that some of you have been experiencing.
ShopWindow Servers
Our Servers are not experiencing any load or CPU usage that may cause latency in the return of data. We have been monitoring this since launch to ensure that data transfer is as efficient as possible, to the point that we are shortly going to be upgrading our server platform.
The geographic location of your hosting solution does appear to be a factor with regards to the data transferring between the API server and your Client Software install.
Recommendations
In order to make the process of data transfer as efficient as possible we do recommend the following:
- Caching of SMARTY files
- Using PHP 5 with SOAP extensions
Further Developments
Moving forward we are going to be installing a number of clients globally, so that we can investigate this further and reduce the issue of geographic location causing latency.
From this we will develop the next version of our API Server, ensuring that speeds are improved and more efficient, regardless of your location.
Once I have more information on our progress on this I will update you all.
Thanks
Amo
