View Full Version : Concerned About Conversion Rate

In the past week, every day I have sent at least 30 visits to my Shopwindow site, with the maximum day having 86 visits. However, I don't think I've made a single sale. I've checked the config files and think I've installed everything correctly. I would have expected to make one sale for every 100 visits.

Has anyone else had a similar no conversion experience?

Do you think I might have some problem with my setup? What should I check?

Thanks All.

1% conversion you are mentioning - is it based on that site's performance or just a "rule of thumb"?

It depends who you sent to you site - targeted visitors or just visitors? I mean - were they interested in shopping and buying something or just random people? What site did you send them from? It all depends and you can look at 1% conversion rate as a massive achievement or as a very poor performance.

For example, I achieve 98% conversion rate with a couple of merchants and <0.5% with a few other - it all depends.

I'd start with checking number of pages viewed per visit statitics - if it's close to 1 then you shouldnt expect 1% conv rate.

If clicks are showing up in your account reports then your setup is correct. To put it beyond doubt you could make a purchase yourself through your own site.

I would have expected to make one sale for every 100 visits.

Your expectations are wrong matey.

You could go 10,000 , 100,000 or even 1 million visits without a single clickthru or sale, or you could get 5 sales from 5 clickthru's from 5 page views, that is simply the luck of the draw and it really is a lottery draw in ways, simply because there are so many factors to take into account that can lead to gaining a sale or losing that same sale to someone else.

I'd say have a little (or even better, a whole lot of) patience and give it a while and keep working on making your site worthy of visitors. You have to give yourself every opportunity by making everything the best you can, saying that though, even then the sales may not be forthcoming, as there is a lot of competition out there and everyone is fighting for the same sales and your best may simply not be enough to get you the sales, it's a cut throat industry and scum always seems to float to the top due to their unscrupulous techniques, aka voucher sites.

Ok, I've just realised that the Click Ref swinDOTcom is for my ShopWindow sites, so I'm glad to say I have been making sales.

Thanks All

if you edit your goto.php file and on line 11

$sClickRef = "clickref=swinDOTcom"; # awin clickref

change swinDOTcom to whatever you want, this way when you view your click ref report you can see which site your clicks are coming from, especially useful if you have multiple sites

Hope this helps
