View Full Version : Does ShopWindow Client keep taking disk space?
Hi All
I am a bit perplexed over what keeps rapidly increasing the amount of disk space being used in my hosting account. Does the Shopwindow Client software rapidly take up additional disk space automatically? Are there any settings I can change to counteract this?
Thanks

What kind of level of increase are you actually talking about?
These scripts takes up extra space where smarty cache's the files that people regularly view. If you turned off the caching of files (i've no idea how, but seriously wouldn't recommend it anyway), the bandwidth usage would be a heck of a lot higher than it is normally.
The overheads of these scripts is miniscule really. If your getting low on server disk space due to the simple caching of the files, i'd really suggest moving to a host that provides more space.

The only other thing that increases in size that I am aware of is the php error log filr and if you have a busy site then you need to delete this regularly.
My other guess would be that if you have traffic logs then they could be counted against your allocated space and if they are not regularly deleted then they can become huge just from spider traffic.
A lot depends on your technical set up.

Thanks for your reply Amoochi.
I'm not sure exactly what levels we're talking about, but I've noted the current disk usage so I'll know if/when it happens again.

Hi,
I would suggest taking a look at this thread

There is an issue where the ShopWindow client was not always removing 'old' cached files. That thread will point you in the direction of how to remove these.
Cheers
