Hi all,
Can anyone offer advise to help solve this issue please??
I upload my site via Filezilla FTP, using the HTDOCS folder as advised, yet if I type my website as .co.uk only it returns a error message.
However, if I type .co.uk/index.htm page loads OK. Is there something I could do to make this page show for .co.uk entry as well, as I am losing site visits as a result??
HELP!!!

Not as such, but after download it says to extract all files and save as ie index.htm, default.htm, home.htm etc.
That's what I did and saved as index.htm, hence the page being .co.uk/index.htm.
Sorry I'm a novice so may not be explaining very well.

I said I was a novice!! Could that be causing the problem????
How should I upload then???
You should upload the files as you find them, you don't need to go changing any names of them or anything like that.
It should literally work without any adjustments, no name changing or anything like that.
Changing the name of a file to something it's not is pretty much a guarenteed way to stop it working.
So... Basically delete the files you've changed the names of and upload the default files as you found them.

But the file is still named 79577_client and therefore would only load as .co.uk/79577_client would it not???
Are you sure you have downloaded and unzipped the version 2 client software zip from the Affiliate Windows website?
It should be called:
ShopWindow Client Software v2.zip
When you unzip that zip file, it should contain a folder full of files within it, called:
ShopWindow Client
Within that folder there should be the following list of files and folders of files:
classes (folder with files within)
elements (folder with files within)
smarty (folder with files within)
templates (folder with files within)
category.php
constants.ic.php
goto.php
index.php
licence.txt
product.php
productlist.php
retailers.php
status.php
I know you say your a novice, but surely you've unzipped files before on your computer and moved files from one folder to another folder? Right???
Because I have absolutely no idea what you are doing right now or where you are getting 79577_client from. Are you sure that is a file and not the name that's been given to a temporary unzipped folder or something?
Not wanting to sound patronising, but you do know the difference between a file and a folder/directory?
I think you seriously need to clarify exactly what you have done so far, because what your saying isn't making much sense right now.
I take it from the fact that you've made another thread asking for help on a site you've linked to that clearly is functioning , that you've actually managed to get it working then???
It would have been nice of you to actually respond to the thread you'd made asking for help, to say you'd managed it, rather than wasting other peoples time...
Edit: Or on second thoughts, whatever you've done, it isn't right, there's no way without having done some .htaccess work that the page will only load up with index.htm and not with index.php or with the default base url.

Hi Amoochi,
Sorry I thought I had left a message to say thanks for your help.
I completely take onboard your comments about running before walking , I just get carried away and try to do everything at once rather than bit by bit!
Thanks for your input, I will investigate and slow down a little!!
